APOKRYFO comes from the greek ‘"hidden away.....kept secret"a fitting name for this secluded property.Apokryfo is a unique hideaway located at the edge of the picturesque village of Lofou, in the foothills of Mount Olympus in Cyprus. This boutique hotel is made up of a cluster of old stone houses that have been painstakingly renovated by the owners: local architect Vakis Hadjikyriacou and his interior designer wife, Diana.In the 1860’s Lofou village was a thrivingcommunity producing Commandaria, a desert wine dating back to the Hellenic period and favoured by the Crusaders. Originally these old stone houses were once the homes, wineries and stables of the local farmers. During the restoration many original features were uncovered and traditional cypriot building skills and materials were revived. Marble flagstones were re-laid, old doors were restored and original ceiling beams were re-used.This graceful coexistence of traditional architectural elements, local craftsmanship, modern facilities and tasteful design make Apokryfo an exceptional property.
